Online & Telephone Counselling

Online ...

Online sessions take place through Microsoft Teams. Before your appointment, I'll send you a link via email to join the session. You'll need a reasonably reliable internet connection and somewhere private where you won't be interrupted.

You can use a computer, laptop, tablet or phone. You don't need any special equipment or software beyond being able to access the Teams link.

I'll guide you through anything you need to know before we start.

For many people, the idea of having counselling without sitting in the same room as their counsellor can feel unusual at first. However, many are surprised by how quickly the technology fades into the background and the conversation becomes the focus.

Telephone...

If you'd rather not use video, telephone counselling is also available.  You'll need to be somewhere private where you can talk without being overheard or interrupted. I'll call you at the agreed time, so you don't need to worry about finding a link or setting up a video call.

Some people prefer telephone counselling because it feels more straightforward or gives them a little more privacy. Others simply find it easier to talk when they're not sitting face-to-face with someone. There's no right or wrong choice — it's about what works for you.

Using Smartphone

Whether we meet online or speak by phone, the most important part of counselling remains the same: having a space where you can talk openly and feel heard.

How do I know if I should do online, telephone or in person?

There's no need to decide that one format will suit you before we start. We can talk about what you're comfortable with and what would work best for you.

Whether we speak by video or telephone, the purpose is the same: to give you time to talk, think things through and make sense of what's happening, without being told what you should think or do.
